STC was incorporated under the Indian Companies Act, in 1975 with the objective of specialising in Urban Infrastructure Projects. It has a full-fledged design offices at Mumbai & Chennai & offices in Delhi, Calcutta, Jaipur, Erode, Salem & Sholapur.

STC's offices are manned by highly qualified and experienced personnel and equipped with most modern facilities. STC has been fortunate enough in having on its staff a number of well qualified and experienced engineers who have acquired a high level of competence and recognition for their past work both in India and abroad. In addition, STC has retained a host of highly qualified engineers with outstanding distinction in their respective fields of expertise as visiting Consultants and Special Advisers. They have been carefully drawn from various types of organisations and University Faculty Members specialising in urban planning, systems analysis, behavioral science and management organisation, etc.

In the application of advanced technology to the complexities of engineering problems, STC has also been engaged in large-scale design projects where computers have played an important role in systems analysis. Various computer programmes have been compiled for water distribution network analysis, sewage collection system, structural designs, hydraulic system designs, etc.
